Advertising is more the "say" in the selling world, while marketing is the "do". In order to sell a person something (after identifying the product being sold) we have to first call the buyer's attention. That is what advertising does. It is the decorated voice of the product, it shines from afar as brightly as it needs to for the on-lookers, so that they may see the product's glimmering gold-like beacon. After having gotten their attention(s), the people holding said product will wave it in front of the person, displaying how amazing said product is, and express his/her astonishment in how they managed to live without it.
Of course, the product being sold has it's value to the costumer, but by itself it cannot jump out and people and say, "Here I am, so buy me already." That's the problem isn't it? People go out and (sometimes) look for a certain product, but they cannot find it and end up settling for something else. Again, this is the advertiser's job. Make it stand out, so that it can leap out and say, "Here I am" to the customer.

Week 3 EOC
We've been living in the U.S. of A since how long? Of course that depends on the person, however, if you've been brought up here, or if you moved here because you wanted to, then you'd develop a bit of patriotism - whether you care for that stuff or not. When you hear "America(n)" you think "Us" - the U.S. is us, then anything involving the U.S. would be you. To hear, "The American's have a strong dollar", we feel somewhat proud, so needless to say I also feel the same.
Of course, there are things I don't agree with this country, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't prefer to have a strong dollar. Yes, that also means we'll get in debt with everyone else though, and that just sucks. However, I guess I wouldn't feel bad if we were us in debt and not someone else - considering the other less fortunate countries. We've been known as the "New upcoming Power Dogs". It's about time we get off our high horse and learn some humility.
So, having a strong dollar to pay for exports from other countries seems better than having a weak dollar and importing. We've been hogging the ball for a while not, I guess it's time to let the other kids play with it.

Week 2 EOC
Worst Service Ever
Deciding to eat out with family one day for leisure, we (my family and I) chose a nearby family-owned restaurant, since my mom was crazy about their soups. The food was delicious, it was too bad we had limits in our stomachs or else we would have kept making them richer.
That aside, it was a problem trying to get the waitress' attention, or we would get her attention, but she would just pretend not to see us. When we finally called her over, she would bluntly take our requests for extra napkins, or water, and leave -- only to return with a somewhat irritated attitude. The atmosphere in that (unnamed) place was so thick I thought I would choke.
Needless to say, we never went back. There was no point in complaining to the owner of that place, since the people working there all seemed like a stuck up family.
Over-Generous Service?
When you eat out you want to eat without feeling pressured, get the food you ordered without worrying for poison (I can't say much for the previous place), and not be ridiculously over-priced.
Steering clear of that other place, we went to a completely new one. We went in half-starved and were immediately noticed and sat down. As the waitress brought us to our table she almost lost us in pleasant conversation. If it wasn't for another waiter she saw that pasted her, I wonder if she would have kept talking to us.
That same waitress brought over our server and introduced her. At least, I thought she was our server. The waitress who brought us to our table kept coming back to check on us (just before our actual server would) and give us anything we needed -- with the occasional small talk and jokes. Our server was only able to take our orders and bring us water, since the waitress beat her to it.
I don't think our waitress was supposed to bring us our food and the other things we asked for, but after we were done we had to give two tips.

Week 1 EOC
Name: Laura L.
Field Major: DFVP (Film)
Goal: The number one reason why I decided to go into this field was to show the world (or a lot of people) meaning through this vision I have. There are many movies out today that are more focused on "entertaining" people -- and though I understand that's what people want, I also want to give them a little something else. It's one thing to make visions (movies) that are comical, action-oriented, or suspenseful, but it's another to make the audience experience all of those things and still have them walk away with a different outlook on life, or maybe just throughout their day.
Reason: People have said that their work grants immortality. It may also leave behind a legacy for others to follow.
This is not to say that I want to be remembered. I just want people to remember my work and give consideration to not only the biggest thing in life, but the smallest.
People don't always realize what they should until it's too late, and because that happens other people involved are affected. I want to open up a window of pre-caution and chance to those who wouldn't normally look for it.
